Intensive Care Units (ICU’s)

For forty-four years, Snyder Mfg. Co. has provided a self-contained Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for small animals.

It is not only an oxygen cage for animals, it accommodates one or more animals requiring extraordinary life support for clinical assistance. The patient compartment is oxygen enriched with precise controls. Carbon dioxide is continually removed, and humidity can be increased or decreased. Air temperature can be monitored closely and adjusted to make it cooler or warmer very quickly for ideal patient care. Ports allow access for IV lines and probes for other monitoring devices, and portholes in the doors allow the practitioner to reach in without opening the main doors. The animals under treatment are easy to view, as are the current environmental readings on the control panel.

ICU Configuration & Options

The standard configuration for the base is a 32″ tall cage with removable partitions, casters, card holders, and glass gates with space at the top for an IV line.

The ICU with base including casters is 68 1/4″ tall and 28″ deep.

The ICU Model 2100H is 69 3/4″ wide; the ICU Model 2100G, 58 1/4″ wide; and the ICU Model 2100F, 46 3/4″ wide. But you can even get a 93” wide double panel model, or double stacking models as seen in the photos above.

Each has a heated floor with thermostatic controls on the main panel for setting and reading the exact floor temperature.

The availability of both an I.V. ceiling port and nebulizer port in a self-sustaining environment gave veterinarians improved medication administration to their patients.

If using direct oxygen, allow 3"-4" of space behind the unit for compressor ventilation and 4" on the right side for the flowmeter and oxygen hose, which are included. If using an oxygen tank allow 12" for the tank, flowmeter, and oxygen hose to the right of the ICU.
